Jared Lambert (he/him)
Incoming Doctoral Student
Talofa lava! My name is Jared Lambert, and I’m currently embarking on my journey toward a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I recently wrapped up my Master of Arts in Psychology here at Massey in 2025, where my research focused on decolonising our understanding of sexual violence. My work explores how we can move toward culturally grounded responses specifically for Aotearoa’s Pacific Rainbow community.
By resisting Western heteronormative frameworks and reclaiming indigenous systems of gender, my research aims to "mobilise" cultural responsivity. My upcoming doctoral work is a direct extension of this: I’m moving from the "what if" to the "how." I’ll be working alongside Pacific elders and leaders to explore how we can strengthen the support networks that already exist within our vibrant communities. While my research is deeply political and rooted in social justice, my ultimate goal is simple: to use my clinical training to show up for my Pacific and Rainbow whānau in ways that truly resonate with them.
What brings me joy?
“While I’m a big fan of hiking, getting lost in poetry, and tending to my ever-growing plant collection, nothing beats the chaos and connection of time with family and friends. The real highlights of my week? Spending time with my beautiful niece, Molly, and my nephew, Gabriel. They are my constant reminder of why this work matters and where the purest kind of joy lives!”
