Quinn-Cassidy
Honours Student
Kia ora! Kō Quinn-Cassidy tōku ingoa, Ko Te Arawa tōku iwi.
In 2025, I completed Bachelor of Arts with double majors in Psychology and Creative Writing, and I’m now working towards adding a Honours in Psychology to my repertoire.
Bringing together the disciplines of my undergraduate degree, my research focuses on the impact written stories can have on LGBTTQIA+ individuals in Aotearoa, particularly in relation to self-understanding, identity development, and overall thriving. Alongside my studies, I also work as an LGBTQIA+ Peer Support Worker in Melbourne.
Prior to my shift to Australia, I lived the majority of my adult life in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, where I spent two years as a co-president of UniQ, and as the Rainbow Massey Guide on the Massey Pukeahu campus. I’m consistently looking for ways to get involved in supporting and advocating for LGBTTQIA+ communities, especially in those areas where indigenous culture intersects with sexuality and gender.
What brings me joy?
So many things, but if I had to choose a few… One would have to be getting lost in a good story. Be it books, games, movies or conversations, I just adore to be told a tale. I love a good café mocha, supporting local artists, kererū, and cool clothes. On top of it all, spending time with my friends, family and my cats always fills me with the most happiness.
